About Three Moons

Three Moons is a three-dice game with one call per roll. The calm calls are low (a total of 4 to 10) and high (11 to 17), odd and even: each pays even money, except that any triple loses them. That small exception is the house's edge, and it is the same on all four.

The face calls are a little livelier. Pick a face from one to six: one moon showing it pays 1 to 1, two pay 2 to 1 and three pay 10 to 1. Any triple pays 34 to 1. The exact totals pay most of all: a total of 4 or 17 can only be rolled three ways out of 216, so it pays 67 to 1, while 10 and 11 can be rolled 27 ways and pay 6.5 to 1. The table below lists every total.

No call is better than another over many rolls; they only differ in how often they land and how much they pay when they do. Low, high, odd and even land a little under half the time. A single total lands rarely.

How a round works

  1. Pick one call on the board. Your choice is shown above the Roll button.
  2. Choose a stake and press Roll.
  3. The three moons settle; the total and any triple are read out.
  4. If your call holds, it pays at the rate shown on the board, plus your stake back.

Fair play

Every result is drawn in your browser from the cryptographic random number generator built into it, the same source used to protect passwords. Nothing adjusts the draws to what you have staked, won back or lost, and no result is held back for later. Over many rounds every hall returns a little less than is staked, as casino-style games do; that difference is the reason the shards keep moving, not a promise of anything.
